Thoughts on our architecture

With every building project we change our environment and impress upon it our ideas and needs in order to create urban quality and thus human spaces. Each time our built architecture becomes a public testimony.

For us, it is also especially important that our architecture is free from temporary styles and fashions, so that it provides a durable and valuable addition to its surroundings and thereby contributes to a humane environment. The variety of our solutions range from full integration with the style of the adjoining buildings to deliberate contrast with the architectural context. Projects that we plan within a built environment are always intended  to be part of the urban whole. We always aim to view the new within the context of its surroundings, so that the individual appearance and scale of our architecture can react with it. The ability of our architecture to integrate into the urban context always has priority in order to complement and develop the urban fabric.

The practice Roland Schulz architect was initially founded by Roland Schulz as freelance architect, Dipl. Eng. TH Darmstadt, in 1988 in Langenfeld/Rheinland, Germany and Udine, Italy.

In 1999 the office in Schwerin, Germany, was founded followed in 2006 with an office in Hamburg. The main emphasis of our work so far has been urban planning, together with superstructures, with an almost equal balance between new work and renovation/modernisation, mainly in schools. In the last few years ARS has been mainly involved in local authority contracts and has gained a reputation as a capable and reliable practice, and all projects have been carried out with a high standard of cost control. This quality of the work of ARS is evident from the high level of client satisfaction.
